Guide to the PSP Go

The PSP Go is a unique type of gaming console. Unlike other consoles that require a physical game piece, the PSP Go run strictly on game downloads. That means no more cases lying around or games getting ruined. You can download the PSP Go games online and store up to 30 games in the console, depending on the game size. A lot of people prefer this to having a whole stack of games to keep track of in the house.

Since the PSP Go only uses digital downloads, you cannot use any older PSP game discs inside it. This is one disadvantage to an otherwise brilliant concept. Another disadvantage is probably the price of the PSP Go, which is a little more than other handheld gaming consoles. The PSP Go requires users to download games from the Playstation Network online store, which may be a little restrictive.

However, the advantages outweigh any “cons.” You will no longer have to go to the store or pay shipping fees and wait around for your game to arrive. Simply go online, type in the name of the game you want to download, pay for it online, and then download it to your PSP Go. You can do all of this within fifteen minutes and start playing your game the same day. The PSP Go is actually a lot smaller than other handheld consoles, but contains more memory because it needs to hold multiple digital files. It weighs less in your hand and can actually fit inside your pocket. Plus, you won’t have to carry game discs around anymore.

If you are the type of gamer that prefers to simply grab and go and doesn’t want to deal with having to lug around game discs, then you will probably enjoy the PSP Go. It’s small, portable, easy to use, and there are dozens of games you can download.

Essential PSP Accessories

The Sony PSP is a video gaming console that is small and handheld. As with any gaming console, there are endless accessories that you can purchase to improve the gaming experience. Some accessories are merely fun to have, while others are considered to be “essential.” Some essential PSP accessories include a hard case, faceplate, charger, screen protector, speakers, and more. You can purchase all of these items on eBay for exceptionally low prices.

The first essential accessory includes the hard case. A hard case is often made out of metal or thick plastic to protect the PSP from falls. As you know, a handheld device is prone to being dropped quite often. If the PSP has a protective case, it will probably be alright if you drop it once or twice. The case also protects it from scratches. A thin, plastic screen protector for the LCD screen is another must-have to protect the device from dust and scratches.

Another accessory which may not be “essential,” is the PSP skin. It’s a fun way to customize the look of your gaming console. You can order skins in almost any color or graphic. Similar to the skin, the faceplate is a different way to style your PSP. Faceplates are often made out of hard plastic and come in many colors and prints.

Other essential accessories for the PSP are the speaker docks, which serve to amplify the audio. This is important if you like to watch movies on your PSP or play MP3s. If you would like to use your PSP to take photos, then you will need an add-on camera. The last essential accessory for the PSP is the battery charger. You will definitely need a car charger for road trips and a couple of extra wall chargers. Accessorizing your PSP is a fun way to express yourself and make your friends envious!

Classic Consoles: Sega Genesis

Among all the classic consoles, Sega Genesis is a particular favorite for thousands of hardcore gamers. The Sega brand was launched in the early ’90s to mass appeal and was compared to Nintendo as a rival system. Everyone remembers “Sonic the Hedgehog” commercials and the ubiquitous “Sega!” slogan at the end of every commercial. This hedgehog is probably responsible for millions of children begging their parents to buy them a Sega Genesis.

This 16-bit system can play a variety of games, including the popular “Sonic the Hedgehog” games. There are over 500 games available for the Sega core system, which you can find online at deeply discounted prices. Other popular Sega Genesis games include “Castlevania,” “Eternal Champions,” “NHL,” and “Gunstar Heroes.” Almost every hardcore Sega gamer has enjoyed these games. “Mortal Combat” and other sports games perform very well on the Sega Genesis. If you compare the Sega Genesis against its rival Nintendo system, some games come out on top and others do not perform as well.

Besides the gaming console itself, the Sega Genesis core system comes with a very comfortable wired controller. The controllers are sleek, black and have buttons that are easy to reach. While there are no wireless adapters or headsets like today’s Wii, the Sega Genesis was ahead of its time. It certainly gave the Nintendo Company a run for its money!

Your classic console collection is simply not complete without the Sega Genesis system. The Sega Genesis definitely holds its own among the various Nintendo models, and even beats some of their features. Today, some of the earlier games are collectibles that may be worth some money. If you want to recreate your younger days, purchase a classic console like the Sega Genesis and play all your favorite games once again.

Game Review: Uncharted 2

“Uncharted 2: Among Thieves” is the sequel to the popular “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” game. Released in 2007, it quickly became the “must-have” game for Playstation 3 gamers. It was named “Game of the Year” right after its release – a prestigious title that is not taken lightly.

The teaser trailer itself looked excellent: Nathan Drake, the hero of the original, stands alone on a snow-covered mountain peak after surviving a train wreck. The game opens with this trailer scene and leads you to navigate your way through the train’s ruins. The landscape shots are amazing – truly the work of a photography genius. As Drake makes his way to the city of Shangri-La, you will see some familiar characters.

If you liked the original “Uncharted” game, you will enjoy this one as well. However, the game seems slower, perhaps due to some heavier graphics. The views are more detailed and richer in color, which is probably why the game seems to lag at times. The plot of “Uncharted 2″ is almost as good as its graphics. There is a romantic situation between Drake and a woman, conflict, revenge, battle, and greed to overcome. In fact, the game has better weapons with bigger noise. It’s easier to kill opponents with the new and improved AK. Players also love the multiplayer map, which is like Halo’s. You will know when to pick up weapons along the way, which some people like and some people do not. However, there is a huge variety of weapons in the arsenal, so you won’t ever get bored.

There are an endless variety of gaming modes, stat-tracking for your kills, a ranking system for bragging rights, and video recording. This last feature is really neat, because you can replay performances on cue. Players should definitely buy or rent the first game to understand the plot of this series.
